Brew install macdown install#
make install-scripts will install the helper scripts for you (e.g.mmd, mmd2tex, etc.) If you plan on creating LaTeX documents, you should also download the LaTeX Support Files and install them into the appropriate location for your system and LaTeX software. MacDown is heavily influenced by Mou, and I try to mimic much of its behaviour as much as possible both in UI and the logic underneath, only making changes when I feel that improvement is necessary. Install Macdown 2.app brew cask install macdown. make install (as root) will install the software. You will not generally need (or want) to do this, but it can be useful if you see a possible bug in the latest stable release. Installation from PyPI also allows you to install the latest development release. brew install -cask qlcolorcode qlstephen qlmarkdown quicklook-json.

The plugins includes features like syntax highlighting, Markdown rendering, preview of JSON, patch files, CSV, ZIP files and more. If everything worked fine, you will see the version number for the Sphinx package you just installed. These plugins add support for the corresponding file type to Mac Quick Look (In Finder, mark a file and press Space to start Quick Look). Every time I format my Mac, I always have to google for how to install brew before I can set up my working environment.
I don’t have nearly enough money to match Chen Luo’s purposed offer, but I do have my own pocket of tricks and some free time. Pandoc is an utility that allows conversion between different markup formats. brew is package manager for mac, just like yum is for Fedora or at least used to be.
No suitable offers surfaced (I honestly do not think there will be, either), and I decided that instead of waiting for others to do something about this, I should act myself. It came as a great shock when Chen Luo announced that he felt he could not actively continue the development, and wished to sell the ownership of Mou. I write Markdown all the time, and since I use macOS on a daily basis, Mou is my go-to editor whenever I wish to generate something with markup.
